With Spring upon the Northern Hemisphere and Summer on it’s way, we’re ready to ditch the turtlenecks and start crafting up some lighter sun-friendly options. For the next four weeks, taking inspiration from the catwalks and fashion brands from around the world, Jenni will walk us through the top trends that you can make yourself today!
That’s right, crochet is one of the top trends for this Spring/Summer 2015. It was all over the catwalks of fashion week and every clothes shop on the high-street will be full with crochet goodness, whether it be necklaces, shorts, rompers or a sassy bikini. If you’re a crocheter, chances are you’ll be thinking – “I can make those”! And yes, you can!

I’ve searched through our catalogue of wonderful crochet patterns from our independent designers and yarn brands to found our top ones to match the trends. If you just can’t get the hang of the hook and are happy with needles, we have a fab tutorial for making a crochet-like knitting stitch here.
Like Nina Ricci’s collections, this Arianne floral top is feminine and flattering with its gentle waist and hip shaping and eye-catching floral lace pattern. Make it with the gorgeously soft Malabigo Sock, we think Natural (063) would be a great colour choice.
This Shelly top by Classic Elite Yarns is ideal for those beach days! It’s open stitch top and slip shoulder seams with identical back and front make it an easy project to get on that hook.
3. Carolyn Top by Joanne Scrace
This Carolyn Top looks straight from the Isabel Marant line up! A light and airy summer top which designer, Joanne Scrace promises is simple and quick to make! She made it with the lovely Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend Fino.
The Simply Crochet book by the much loved Debbie Bliss is packed with inspiring and modern crochet projects that are perfect for warmer days.
Cute top, check! Cute shorts? Double check!! Just look at that floral stitch pattern, we’re rushing for our hooks right now! See more of Vicky Chan’s crochet designs here.
6. Kari’s Bikini by Brandi Isham
Celebs across the globe are catching on to the crochet trend (we were always there though, right?) in the form of swimwear. We’ve found this lovely Kari’s Bikini by Brandi Isham, which is just like Zara’s SS15 crochet bikini.
